One advantage of the use of a phase plug in a midbass horn is that it will beam less at higher frequenzies than a horn without phase plug. If the phase plug is designed for the specific horn and driver it will help "steer" the HF.

I think I can imagine how a complex, sophisticated presentation can be too "unnecessarily demanding", in lieu of a better phrase, in a long run in family life circumstances. I sometimes suffer similar problems (I imagine others too).

Now I have been listening the different crossovers trying to shape the new Macondo general balance. This is so fascinating ceremony that I do have a lot of fan. The things doing alone very well. I boosted upper bass and it worked now very-very well....
